Efficiency in restorative dentistry is greatly enhanced by simplifying complex procedures. The Disposable Nylon Mesh Triple Tray is a revolutionary tool that allows clinicians to capture an impression of the prepared tooth, the opposing dentition, and the patient’s bite registration simultaneously in a single step, significantly reducing chair time and patient discomfort.
The tray is designed as a U-shaped arch with a central “bite platform” made of a rigid frame and a flexible nylon mesh. The mesh is the key to its function. To use it, a heavy-body or vinyl polysiloxane (VPS) impression material is loaded onto both sides of the tray. The tray is then inserted into the patient’s mouth, and they are asked to close gently into their natural bite position (centric occlusion). As they bite down, the opposing teeth penetrate through the mesh, which itself becomes embedded in the impression material.

This action simultaneously records the detailed anatomy of the prepared tooth and the surrounding teeth on one side, the anatomy of the opposing teeth on the other side, and—crucially—the precise horizontal and vertical relationship between the two arches. This eliminates the need for separate impression steps and a separate bite registration, streamlining the entire process.
Being disposable and made of plastic and nylon, they are hygienic, cost-effective, and require no cleaning or sterilization. They are available in a full range of sizes and for both full and partial arches. For any practice involved in crowns, bridges, and inlays/onlays, the triple tray is an indispensable tool for achieving accurate articulation of models in the lab with minimal patient chair time.
